Transport

Objective: The core objective of this theme under FP7 is to develop safer, greener and smarter transport systems for Europe that will benefit citizens, respect the environment, and increase the competitiveness of European industries in the global market.

Budget: More than € 4.16 billion will be invested in this theme over the duration of the FP7.

Priority Areas: 
• Aeronautics and air transport: Emissions reduction, work on engines and alternative fuels, air traffic management, safety of air transport, environmentally sustainable aviation.
• Sustainable surface transport such as rail, road and waterborne: Development of efficient and ecologically-sound engines and power trains, reduction of the impact of transport on climate change, intermodal regional and national transports, clean and safe vehicles, infrastructure construction and maintenance, and integrative architectures.
